The blaze, which has forced tens of thousands of evacuations from oil sand work camps and the entire city of Fort McMurray, covered more than 505,000 hectares on Thursday, according to the latest estimates from the Alberta government.
About 700 hectares have burned in Saskatchewan but the fire is about 30 miles from the nearest village and does not pose a threat, according to Canadian broadcaster the CBC.
