The US independent posted a net loss of $1.25 billion for the three months to December, chiefly due to $954 million in special charges.
The company posted an annual loss of $6.692 billion for 2015 - its largest such loss on record.
Anadarko said it would propose capital spending of $2.8 billion in 2016, down about 50% from 2015 figures and almost 70% from 2014.
