Anadarko Petroleum revealed a pair of discoveries in the deep-water US Gulf of Mexico as it announced the closure of a $2 billion deal for Freeport McMoRan's portfolio in the region.
Anadarko said its Warrior wildcat hit 210 net feet of oil pay in "multiple high-quality Miocene-aged reservoirs".
The well was drilled to a depth of about 27,000 feet, including a sidetrack, in Green Canyon Block 563 with Diamond Offshore drillship Ocean BlackHawk.
