Fabiano Silveira, who had only taken the post of Minister of Transparency & Oversight on 12 May, resigned on Monday following the airing on TV Globo on Sunday of excerpts from a secretly recorded conversation between him and Senate President Renan Calheiros.
In it Silveira makes comments that his detractors have taken to represent criticism of some prosecutors involved in the Car Wash investigation into historical corruption involving state oil giant Petrobras.
