The Australian explorer said the Egilabria-4 well, which was drilled to a total depth of 1839 metres in its wholly-owned ATP 1087 permit, first hit gas in a 73-metre interval at the base of the Mesozoic Carpentaria basin section.

It then encountered gas within a 140-metre section of the Lawn shale formation. A stronger than expected buildup of pressure to 70psi was noted in a number of desorption canisters filled with cuttings from this interval, Armour said.
