The well reached its total depth of 3530 metres, according to the company, which is now working on preparations to commence a wireline logging programme, it said.
Elevated gas shows were observed in the primary target Kingia and High Cliff sandstones as well as the Carynginia shale and Irwin River coal measures, AWE said.
All target formations were successfully intersected and the cores will now be sent for analysis, it said.
