Australia's National Offshore Titles Authority has granted the company a 12-month work programme suspension and permit extension for the permit which lies off the coast of Victoria.
Vic/P68 is currently in the third year of a six-year term, with the current commitments for the third year involving the acquisition of 225 square kilometres of 3D seismic.
The extension now gives Bass until 3 November 2016 to meet its third year commitment, with the company seeking the extension to allow aggregation of seismic work with other operators to reduce the cost of the survey.
It said the extension also allowed for the survey to be carried out in the normal summer acquisition window off southern Australia.
