Fellow Australian explorer and joint venture partner Cooper Energy said on Wednesday that the development well had hit five metres of net oil pay in the Namur sandstone in the duo’s shared permit PEL 92.
The Butlers-7 probe was drilled to a total depth of 1445 metres and has been cased and suspended for completion as an oil producer.
Cooper said the well will be linked to the existing Butlers production facilities.
