Benthic's portable remotely operated drill, PROD3, will execute the projects consecutively from the offshore supply ship Jaya Vigilant, with the Browse floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) operations taking place first.
Operations at Browse FLNG are expected to start in the fourth quarter of 2015. Researchers will complete in-situ testing and sampling to identify the soil's conditions and geotechnical properties.
Drilling will penetrate up to 35 metres below the mudline in maximum water depths of 620 metres.
