A report from the International Maritime Bureau’s Piracy Reporting Centre indicates that six robbers armed with machine guns and knives approached a heavy-lift vessel at Conakry anchorage in a boat just before 5am local time on Sunday and boarded it.
“They attacked the duty O/S (ordinary seaman) causing injuries and took the 2/O (second officer) hostage,” the report read.
“They opened fire to threaten the crew members and damaged the accommodation.
