Dutch marine services player Royal Boskalis Westminster said it will take a €840 million ($891.9 million) non-cash impairment charge in its 2016 annual results due to "strongly deteriorated" current and future market conditions in the offshore oil and gas sector.

"This charge is almost entirely related to the services part of Boskalis' offshore oil and gas activities," the company said, with more than €365 million related to an impairment of vessels, more than €380 million relating to goodwill and about €90 million to Smit Lamnalco.
