The “most likely” volume of oil to have spilled during the incident that occurred around 10am local time on 2 October is around 95 tonnes – equating to approximately 700 barrels – the oil giant said in an updated statement on Monday.
The UK supermajor is to allow the spilled oil to disperse naturally at sea, although “contingencies for other actions are being prepared,” the statement read.
