Helios Plaza, a 390,000-square-foot building owned by the supermajor, is part of BP's Westlake campus in west Houston's so-called Energy Corridor, which is the company's headquarters in the US.
In a statement on Thursday, spokesman Jason Ryan confirmed chatter that the company would put the building up for sale.
The decision to sell the building would have no impact on BP's "commitment" to Houston, Ryan said.
