Brazilian regulators on Wednesday signed off on broad guidelines for a pair of important upcoming bid rounds, including the country's second-ever offering of production-sharing contracts in the crown jewel of its unlicensed pre-salt acreage.

The Ministry of Mines & Energy said the key round, envisaged to open bids in the third quarter of this year, will cover "unitisable" areas on unlicenced acreage adjacent to the discoveries of Gato do Mato and Carcara, as well as the fields of Tartaruga Verde and Sapinhoa.

The
