Lula is accused of allegedly helping a relative of his former wife win a contract for Odebrecht in Angola, local Brazilian media said, however the reports have not been confirmed by the police.
Following the media reports, Lula took to social media to defend himself and said that he had always "acted within the law". A statement on Lula's Facebook page said his lawyers would "analyse the document from the federal police, which was leaked by the media and revealed in a sensational way before the defence had access".
