One round will feature four production-sharing contracts in the pre-salt province, and the other includes scores of concessions in 10 different sedimentary basins, four of which are offshore.
The pre-salt areas are located on open acreage in close proximity to existing concessions with known discoveries, meaning they present little exploration risk and large hydrocarbon resources, but will require unitisation agreements.
A law requiring Petrobras to operate on all such contracts was repealed last week, removing the single-operator requirement from the four areas to be offered.
