Former Brazilian senator Gim Argello was sentenced to 19 years in prison for corruption, money laundering and obstruction of justice, federal judge Sergio Moro ruled on Thursday.
Argello, who was a senator of the centrist Brazilian Labour Party from 2007 to 2015, was serving as the vice president of the congressional committee that was looking into allegations of corruption in Petrobras projects in 2014.
