The Utopia-16 probe was spudded in permit PL 214 on Monday. According to joint venture partner Bounty Oil & Gas, the well was drilling ahead at a depth of 995 metres by Friday morning.
The probe lies about 900 metres of the Utopia-14 well, which is now in production after encountering very good oil shows in a 12-metre interval in sandstones at the target Murta zone.
