The Omar oilfield in eastern Syria was targeted in the overnight bombing raids that were deemed as “successful” by UK Defence Secretary Michael Fallon, according to a BBC News report.
Fallon said four Tornado fighters from the RAF’s Akrotiri base in Cyprus participated in the attacks carried out by a US-led coalition, with the targets approved ahead of the 397-to-223 vote in the UK’s House of Commons on Wednesday that gave the green light for the raids.
