Leon Harland, currently vice president of commercial and technology at Dutch contractor Heerema, will take up the new post on 16 May, Kuala Lumpur-based Bumi said.
Harland takes over from Chan Chee Beng who has filled in as interim chief executive since Hassan Basma decided to quit at the end of 2014.
Once Harland takes the reins, Chan will return to being a non-executive director on the board.
