Buru expects to take 20 days to extend the well to a depth of 3200 metres in the Lower Laurel Formation, with chief executive Eric Streitberg saying testing results will be valuable to the company either way.
“This is an important and exciting test of the both the conventional and tight gas potential of the Laurel Formation, on what is interpreted to be a large structural closure,” he said.
