Bruru revealed Wednesday that drilling had started on the Victory-1 well in EP 457 which is expected to take about 34 days to drill to a total depth of 2600 metres.

The well is targeting conventional oil and gas in the Ungani Dolomite and Laurel clastic reservoirs and potentially also in Devonian aged carbonates.

Buru said the prospect had similarities to the nearby Ungani field and noted it had the potential to be larger than the producing oilfield.

Buru and its joint venture partner Mitsubishi began commercial production from Ungani in July at at an initial rate of 1250 barrels per day of oil, with an initial increased target of 2500 bpd, rising to 3000 bpd.
