Chesapeake violated the state’s Oil & Gas Act, Clean Streams Law and Dam Safety & Encroachments Act when it caused a landslide that pushed sediment into seven tributaries of Harts Run while building the pad for its Stinger 8H well in Greene County, the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) said.

The company began stabilisation and clean up of the slide when it happened in September 2011 but it did not complete work in the area until July 2014.
