Chesapeake will pay about $29.4 million in the settlement and Total will pay about $13.1 million in cash. The remaining $10 million will be paid through a Chesapeake promissory note payable in three years.
The settlement must be approved by 90% of the 13,000 claimants no later than 11 July or the agreement is void, according to landowner attorneys McDonald Law Firm and Circelli, Walter & Young.
