Chevron said in a statement late Monday (early Tuesday in Australia) that the US$54 billion project has started producing LNG and condensate at the Gorgon facility on Barrow Island off the north-west coast of Western Australia.
"We expect legacy assets such as Gorgon will drive long-term growth and create shareholder value for decades to come," chief executive John Watson said, adding that he sees "attractive" long-term fundamentals for LNG "particularly in the Asia-Pacific region".
