The US supermajor, after a lengthy absence, is back with a 20% stake in what many consider to be the most exciting exploration licence for several years on the Norwegian continental shelf.
Chevron was awarded partnership in the Statoil-operated production licence 859 earlier this year, along with fellow partners ConocoPhillips, Lundin and Petoro.
As early as next year the partnership is planning to drill what has been called the most promising well in Norway since the Johan Sverdrup discovery.
