The US supermajor has ruled out relocating the facility and is preparing to shut-in the spar sometime after 2020.
"Genesis is on the list. We’re already in the planning stages," Chevron environmental management president Donald Stelling told Upstream at OTC in Houston on Wednesday.
"It's got years of life left in it," he added. "But it's our first offshore spar out there."
