Normally gas from the test phase of a project is taken by companies with long-term gas contracts, however Reuters cited an unnamed industry source as saying Gorgon's Japanese LNG buyers had built in the right to pass on the test gas when negotiating their contracts.
The news agency cited a spokesperson for Tokyo Gas as saying the company currently had “no plan” when asked if it would take up the test, or commissioning, cargoes.
