The companies had confirmed the presence of a 5.5 metre gross oil column in the mid-Namur sandstone and an additional 3 metre gross oil column in the Hutton sandstone, Cooper said.
Strong oil shows had also been found in the secondary objective of the Birkhead formation, with that zone currently being drained by the nearby Christies-3 well.
The well was drilled by the Ensign 930 rig to a total depth of 1734 metres and will be cased and suspended for completion as a mid-Namur oil producer, linked to the Christies production facilities, Cooper said.
