UK independent Chrysaor has applied to increase production at its Hawkins and Seymour fields in the central North Sea, which produce via the Armada platform.

The increases will come from two new production wells — the Hawkins 22/05b-A13 well and the Seymour Horst 22/05bA14 probe, both of which will be drilled from the Armada platform in Block 22/05, some 220 kilometres off Aberdeen.

The new wells will take production above the thresholds Chrysaor already has consent for, which has required the private equity-backed operator to submit new environmental statements to the UK authorities.

According to the documents, Chrysaor is seeking to increase production at Hawkins to 937,000 cubic metres per day of gas and 1300 bpd of oil in 2020 and 961,000 cubic metres per day and 1080 bpd of oil in 2021.

The current consent levels for Hawkins are 161,000 cubic metres of gas per day and 260 barrels per day.

At Seymour, current consent levels are 150,000 cubic metres per day of gas and about 2240 bpd of oil.

Chrysaor is seeking to increase levels at that field to 766,000 cubic metres per day of gas and 6590 bpd of oil in 2020 and 985,000 cubic metres per day of gas and about 5585 bpd of oil in 2021.

When Chrysaor acquired Armada in 2017, previous operator Shell had already served a cessation of production (COP) notice and output had been due to end in June 2018.

Chrysaor chief executive Phil Kirk told Upstream in August that cessation of production at Armada was now expected to be “the other side” of 2025.

Eight reservoirs are linked to Armada — the three Armada gas and condensate fields: Fleming, Drake and Hawkins; the Seymour and Maria tie-backs in the UK; and the third-party Rev and North and South Gaupe fields, which are located in Norway.
