Yard president Yu Ya told Upstream in an interview on Monday that the yard is just one step away from finalising a deal to build two mid-water rigs based on Bassoe Technology's BT5000 design.
CIMC has already signed a front-end engineering and design contract with Bassoe. The rigs will be able to work in water depths of up to 500 metres, with upgrade capabilities up to 1500 metres, and will be able to drill to depths of 9144 metres.
