The unit will be used on its Liuhua 16-2 and Liuhua 11-1 fields, as well as the new Liuhua 20-2-1 discovery in the eastern part of the South China Sea.
The Liuhua 20-2 discovery, which was made in the Baiyun trough of the Pearl River Mouth basin close to the two existing fields, has led to renewed optimism within CNOOC about the commercial prospects of a development after the low oil price had caused it to pause its original plans to develop just Liuhua 16-2 and Liuhua 11-1.
