The agreement will see the pair work together on upstream investments and relevant project services outside of the United Arab Emirates.
CNPC said the cooperation agreement would see the two companies specifically target conventional onshore and offshore projects as well as liquefied natural gas projects.
The agreement was signed in China over the weekend during an official visit to Beijing by Abu Dhabi's crown prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan.
