The Mahalo field pilot scheme, located on the ATP 337P Mahalo Block in the onshore Bowen basin, is aimed at lifting water from the coalbed to reduce pressure in the area around the Mahalo field wells. In turn, this allows gas to desorb from the coal and flow to the well.
The ultimate objective of the pilot scheme is for one or more wells to produce gas at commercial rates to enable gas resources to be converted to gas reserves.
