The well, targeting "a large, well-defined four-way closure", will be spud in Alaminos Canyon Block 475 in 5134 feet of water.
Drillship Maersk Valiant is scheduled to carry out the work after it wraps up operations at the Marathon Oil-operated Solomon prospect in Walker Ridge Block 225.
That well is still drilling ahead after being delayed by downhole mechanical problems. Marathon and ConocoPhillips jointly operate the drillship.
