The Houston-based operator earned $6.9 billion in 2014 as a whole, down from $9.2 billion in 2013.
The company said that when special items are taken out, its earnings were $700 million in the fourth quarter, down from $1.7 billion a year earlier, and $6.6 billion for the full year, down from $7.1 billion in 2013.
The company said the largest special item affecting the fourth quarter was a charge it took on the termination agreement it made in 2013 with Freeport LNG Development.
