ConocoPhillips will reportedly have to pay 1.68 million yuan ($266,000) to 21 farmers who said their livelihoods were hurt by the spills and did not participate in a previous 2012-settlement with ConocoPhillips and its partner, Chinese state-owned oil major China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC).

The farmers were initially seeking more than 141 million yuan from the two oil companies over the leaks at the Penglai 19-3 oilfield, a joint exploration project by the two players, Reuters reported.
