Consol had been accused of exceeding allowable levels of pollutants such as total dissolved solids in its discharges from the mine into tributaries of the Ohio River.
As part of the deal, Consol committed to limiting discharges from the mine, maintain long-term monitoring, develop a plan to deal with the water and a system to comply with the Clean Water Act.
