While the shipyard did not disclose the name of the customer, or the rig, in a filing with the Korea Exchange, it is widely assumed to be Houston-based Vantage Drilling, who announced last week that it was cancelling its order for drillship Cobalt Explorer.
Daewoo said Vantage has no legal basis for cancelling the approximate 703 million won contract ($593 million).
