The US independent is using the Rowan EXL-3 jack-up to drill a relief well on the South Timbalier 220 block with the aim of permanently shutting in the blown-out natural gas well A-3. Drilling is expected to continue through early September.
Walter said on Thursday that Superior Energy's derrick barge Performance had now completed the debris removal, giving crews vertical access to the well.
