In a statement highlighting the Justice Department’s (DoJ) misgivings about the deal, US assistant attorney general Bill Baer said his office found at least 23 product and service markets where the merger would cause “a substantial lessening of competition”.
“I have seen a lot of problematic mergers in my time. But I have never seen one that poses so many antitrust problems in so many markets,” Baer said.
