Dragados nearing Ca-Ku-A1 launch
Gas-compression facility expected to play important role for Pemex in Ku-Maloob-Zaap area
Dragados Offshore is expected to load out the Ca-Ku-A1 platform for Pemex at the end of next month, according to the Port of Altamira in northern Mexico.
The platform, set to be a key link in processing gas for the state-led Mexico oil company, is expected to depart from the yard in 25 August before making its way to Ciudad de Carmen in Campeche, officials said in a news release about a visit to the company yard in the port.
Dragados could not be immediately reached for comment.
The 23,900-ton facility has capacity for compression of 450 million cubic feet of natural gas per day, and has been under construction for about 22 months.
The work is estimated to have created about 2000 direct and indirect jobs.
The Mexican state oil company awarded the contract in 2017 under a model used in the prior administration of Enrique Pena Nieto, which aimed to share more risk with contractors.
Pemex completed a lengthy tender process by selecting Dragados, which teamed up with Avanzia Instalaciones and Cobra Instalaciones y Servicios, for both the construction of the platform and an operations contract running for about 11 years.
The aggregated value for the winning award was about $1.034 billion, according to the tender documents.
The current administration of president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has not opted to follow the same model.
