The Australian operator of the WA-320-P permit in the northern Carnarvon basin will now release the jack-up Noble Tom Prosser on Tuesday after the disappointing result.
Well partner Tap Oil said on Monday that the well, which was spudded on 1 August, reached total depth of 2111 metres in 101 metres of water on Friday.
The objective of the well was to test the Early Cretaceous Sandstones of the Mardie Greensand member, Birdrong member and Zeepaard formation in a low-relief, four-way dip closure.
