The Dubai-based fabricator said delivery of the final module represented “completion of the crown jewel of this project, with the turret being the heart of the Prelude FLNG”.
Drydocks World built the turret in six modules for contractors SBM Offshore and Technip.
The turret, designed by SBM in Monaco, has been billed as the largest in the world. “At almost 100 meters high, weighing over 11,000 tonnes and with a diameter of 26 meters, the turret will ensure the Prelude FLNG facility can operate safely in the most extreme weather conditions,” the Dubai builder said.
