DSME, which last month filed a complaint with the London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA), has blamed “faulty design” for alleged losses it incurred on construction of the so-called Category D semi-submersibles, according to a Korea Times report.
The customised midwater rigs, intended as workhorse units to carry out production drilling and well completions at mature fields, are based on a design developed by Norway’s Statoil in collaboration with Songa and other industry players.
