The state-led Colombian company divulged the event in a statement, saying it "rejected facts presented" by the USO but did not elaborate on its argument or demands.
"Ecopetrol management maintain open spaces for dialogue constructively with the USO in normal working conditions," the company said in a statement.
"The current situation, caused by low oil prices, requires us all continue to work together to contribute to the sustainability of the company and the creating value for the benefit of all Colombians."
