The approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (Ferc) authorises the project's developers to construct and operate the $2 billion facility, which will be located on Elba Island near Savannah, Georgia.
In addition, Ferc approved modifications to Kinder Morgan's Elba Express pipeline, which will provide the facility with gas for liquefaction and supply additional gas to industrials and utilities in Georgia and Florida.
