EMGS was originally awarded a $4.5 million contract with the client in August to gather 3D electromagnetic data over the oil company's operated area in Malaysia.
That survey wrapped up on 9 October and EMGS said the BOA Thalassa would start work on the contract extension off East Malaysia on Wednesday.
The new survey is expected to take 1.5 months to complete.
