The 36/7-4 well hit a 60-metre oil column and 50-metre gas column in the Early Cretaceous Agat formation after being drilled by semi-submersible Transocean Arctic in Engie-operated production licence 636, according to the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD).
“Reservoir quality ranges from very good in the top section to good in the lower section,” the NPD said in a statement.
The state agency has issued a preliminary recoverable resource estimate for the find of between 27 million and 69 million barrels of oil equivalent, while Engie has given an estimate of between 25 million and 70 million boe.
