The PSA served Eni a notification of order on Monday, three days after the Goliat floating production, storage and offloading vessel lost all power from shore, causing production to be stopped.
PSA chief executive Anne Myhrvold told Upstream the agency had ordered the Italian operator to rectify the problem before resuming production from the field.
"We have instructed Eni to investigate the incident and implement necessary measures to avoid further incidents," she said.
